Kyŏnggi
Kyŏnggi, South Korea A province meaning ‘Near the Capital’ from kyŏng ‘capital’; the provincial capital is also the national capital, Seoul. However, the name could mean ‘Royal Capital’ from ki ‘royal domain’, the ki becoming gi when following the ‐ng of kyŏng.
