Kragujevac
Kragujevac , city (1991 pop. 147,305), S central Serbia. The economic and cultural center of the Sumadija region, Kragujevac's industries include the manufacture of motor vehicles and munitions, vegetable canning, and flour milling. First mentioned in 17th cent., the city was the cultural and political center of Serbia when it served (1818–39) as Miloš Obrenović's capital. |

Kragujevac
Kragujevac, Serbia/Serbia and Montenegro Karajovja Founded in the 16th century as a small Ottoman Turkish town, its present name is derived from the Serbo‐Croat kraguj ‘vulture’, large numbers of which used to nest in the woods nearby. The city was the capital of Serbia in 1819–39.
