Longchenpa
Longchenpa (1308–64) (Tib., klong-chen-pa). The great Nyingma master and scholar who synthesized the Dzogchen traditions of Padmasambhava and Vimalamitra, and who also wrote prolifically on all aspects of Buddhism from the Nyingma viewpoint. He also received instructions from outstanding masters of the Sakya and the Karma-kagyü schools. He resided as the abbot of Samyé monastery (gompa) for a while but also spent much of his life in retreat or travelling as a political refugee. He wrote over 270 works, among which the most noted include the so-called Seven Treasuries, a set of seven interrelated treatises, and the cycle of Easing the Mind.
