Kizel
Kizel , city (1989 pop. 37,000), E European Russia, on the Kizel River and on the western slopes of the Urals. It is a coal-mining and industrial center with coal-concentrating factories and plants that produce mining equipment, clothing, and food products. It was founded in the late 18th cent. as a coal mining town. |

Kizel, Perm/Russia Founded in 1788 and named after the Kizel River whose name is said to come from the Tatar kyzyl ‘red’, a possible reference to the berries of the vegetation along its banks.
