Kinderhook

Kinderhook , village (1990 pop. 1,293), Columbia co., SE N.Y.; settled before the Revolution, inc. 1838. Richard Upjohn designed St. Paul's Church (1851) there. President Martin Van Buren was born and is buried in Kinderhook; the Van Buren homestead, "Lindenwald," is south of the village. The House of History, maintained by the county historical society, occupies an early 19th-century mansion.

Kinderhook, New York/USA The Anglicized version of the Dutch kinder hoeck ‘children's point’, a reference to the many Native American children in the area.
