Khālistān
Khālistān (‘the land where the khālsā rules’, or ‘the land of the pure’). The name given to the territory which some Sikhs would like to see established as a Sikh homeland. In some estimates, it would be greater than the present Puñjāb, and would include an outlet to the Indian Ocean.

Khalistan
Khalistan the name given by Sikh nationalists to a proposed independent Sikh state; the name may be compared with Arabic khālsa ‘pure, real, proper’.
