Kenton
Kenton ♂ Transferred use of the surname, in origin a local name from any of various places so called. The one in Devon gets its name from the British river name Kenn + Old English tūn ‘enclosure, settlement’ the one in north-west London is from the Old English personal name Cēna + tūn; the one in Northumberland is from Old English cyne- ‘royal’ + tūn.

Kenton Suffolk. Chenetuna 1086 (DB). Probably ‘royal manor’. OE cyne- + tūn. Alternatively the first element may be the OE masculine pers. name Cēna.
