July the seventh month of the year, in the northern hemisphere usually considered the second month of summer. The name is recorded from Middle English, and comes from Latin Julius (mensis) ‘(month) of July’, named after Julius Caesar.
July monarchy a name for the monarchy (1830–48) of Louis Philippe, king of the French, who became king in the July Revolution of 1830. July Revolution the revolution of 1830 in which Charles X of France was overthrown and by which Louis Philippe gained the throne as king of the French. |
