Rechy, John (Francisco)
Rechy, John [Francisco] (1934–), born in Texas, served in the army in Germany, is a novelist of the underground life of sex and drugs, mainly of homosexuals, presented with candid directness in City of Night (1963), Numbers (1967), This Day's Death (1970), The Vampires (1971), The Fourth Angel (1973), Rushes (1979), Bodies and Souls (1983), and Marilyn's Daughter (1988), more bisexual in theme and treatment, and The Miraculous Day of Amalia Gomez (1992). The Sexual Outlaw (1978), set in Hollywood, is a documentary account of men engaged in promiscuous, anonymous sex in public places.
