Rastell, John
Rastell, John (?–1536), brother-in-law of Sir Thomas More, and father-in-law, through the marriage of his daughter Elizabeth, of John Heywood, some of whose interludes were printed by Rastell's son William. John Rastell is believed to have been the author of Calisto and Meliboea, an adaptation of part of de Rojas's Celestina, and of The Dialogue of Gentleness and Nobility, both of which were acted in his own garden at Finsbury in about 1527, and printed by him in the same year. He may also have been the author of an earlier interlude entitled The Play of the Four Elements (c.1517).
