John Parke

Parke, John

Parke, John (1754–89) Revolutionary army officer, born in Dover, Delaware. Parke served under Gen. George Washington at the Battle of Monmouth (1778); Parke's troops were part of a disorganized retreat that drew Washington's wrath. Later, Parke became a published poet.
