John Carver

Carver, John

Carver, John (c.1576–1621) Pilgrim leader. He had been deacon of the separatist church in Leiden and led the migration in the Mayflower in 1620. Elected first governor of Plymouth Plantation, he died shortly afterwards and was succeeded by William BRADFORD.
