Jehoiachin

Jehoiachin , in the Bible, king of Judah. He was king for a few months (c.598 BC) after the death of his father, Jehoiakim . He and his court were carried away into exile by Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon and imprisoned. On the death of Nebuchadnezzar he was freed and given honorable treatment.

Jehoiachin Also called Coniah (Jer. 22: 24); he began to reign over Judah at the age of 18 in 597 BCE and soon afterwards surrendered to the babylonians (2 Kgs. 24: 12) but in 561 BCE had his status in captivity raised (2 Kgs. 25: 27–30; Jer. 52: 31–4) and his fortunes reversed.
