Straw, Jack
Straw, Jack (1946– ) British statesman, home secretary (1997–2001), foreign secretary (2001– ). Straw entered Parliament in 1979. He held several shadow cabinet posts before Tony Blair led Labour to victory in the 1997 election. As home secretary, he allowed Pinochet's return to Chile and published the Lawrence Report (1999) into racism in the police force.
