Ibiza
Ibiza (Eivissa), Balearic Islands/Spain Ebusus Also spelt Iviza. The third largest of the Balearic Islands and a city‐port, it was at one time inhabited by the Phoenicians. The name, therefore, may be of Phoenician origin and mean ‘Island of Perfumes’ from ī ‘island’ and busim ‘perfume’ or ‘fragrance’, a reference to the sweet‐smelling vegetation on the island, or ‘Island of Pines’ from brosim ‘pine’.
