Huntingdon, Canada, UK, USA 1. Canada (Quebec): named after the town in England.2. (UK) England: formerly Huntandun and Huntedun ‘Huntsmen's Hill’ or a ‘Hill belonging to a man called Hunta’ from hunta ‘huntsman’ or a personal name, ‐ing‐ and dūn. As the most important town in the area, it gave its name to the former county of Huntingdonshire with the additional scīr.3. USA (Pennsylvania): originally Standing Stone, it was renamed after Selina Hastings (1707–91), Countess of Huntingdon, well known for her works of charity and generous donations to good causes, and the founder of the Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion, an association of Christian evangelicals.
