Lindsay, Howard
Lindsay, Howard (1889–1968), American actor, dramatist, and director, who already had many successes to his credit when he collaborated with Russel Crouse (1893–1966) in a dramatization of Clarence Day's book Life with Father. Produced in 1939, with Lindsay as Father, this ran for seven years. They continued their collaboration in the Pulitzer Prize-winner State of the Union (1945) and a dramatization of Day's Life with Mother (1948), which also had a long run, Lindsay again playing Father.
