Brighton and Hove
Brighton and Hove City on the English Channel, East Sussex, s England. Originally a fishing village, it was popularized as a resort by the Prince Regent ( George IV), who had the Royal Pavilion rebuilt here in oriental style by John Nash. It is the seat of the University of Sussex (1961) and the University of Brighton (1992). It gained city status in 2000. Industries: food processing, furniture, tourism. Pop. (2001) 247,817.
