Horatio

A Dictionary of First Names | 2006 | | Copyright

Horatio ♂ Variant of Horace, influenced by the Latin form Horatius and the Italian form Orazio. It is chiefly known as having been borne by Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758–1805), victor of many sea battles with the French during the Napoleonic Wars, culminating in the Battle of Trafalgar, in which he was killed.
