Mirabeau, Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, Comte de
Mirabeau, Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, Comte de (1749–91) French revolutionary politician. Mirabeau rose to prominence in the early days of the French Revolution, when he became deputy of the Third Estate in the States General. His moderate political stance led him to press for a form of constitutional monarchy; he was made President of the National Assembly in 1791, but died shortly afterwards.
