Homburg
Homburg (Bad Homburg) Saarland/Germany The full name is Bad Homburg vor der Höhe which denotes a spa town at the foot of the (Taunus) mountains from vor ‘in front of’ and Höhe ‘height’. Homburg means ‘High Fortress’, a reference to the 12th‐century Hohenburg Fortress (now in ruins). The town has given its name to the felt hat with a lengthways furrow in the crown which was first made here.
