Holiness Code
Holiness Code. The collection of laws in Leviticus 17–26. The Holiness Code is so named because of the emphasis in the text that the Jewish people must be holy even as God is holy. However, some doubt whether these chapters constitute a separate Code, since they have a varied character and the word ‘holiness’ occurs only in 19–22 (and is in Leviticus outside this section).

Holiness Code
Holiness Code, also Law of Holiness. The collection of legal material in Lev. 17–26, so named by A. Klostermann in 1877. There are indications that it is a product of the Exile in Babylon.
