Hirosaki

Hirosaki

Hirosaki, Honshū/Japan ‘Wide Cape’ from hiro ‘wide’ or ‘broad’ and saki ‘cape’ or ‘promontory’, a probable reference to the vast Tsugaru plains. It is possible, however, that it may come from the Ainu biro ‘cliff’ and saki.
