Hilton ♂ Transferred use of the surname, in origin a local name from any of the many places named with the Old English elements hyll ‘hill’ + tūn ‘enclosure, settlement’. As a first name it is sometimes chosen because of its association with the chain of luxury hotels founded by Conrad Hilton (1887–1979).
