Hibiscus

Hibiscus (family Malvaceae) A genus of trees and shrubs whose showy flowers have a prominent stamen tube. They are bird-pollinated. Several are widely cultivated, especially H. rosa-sinensis. Okra is the mucilaginous young fruits of H. (Abelmoschus) esculentus. There are about 200 species, with a pantropical distribution.

hibiscus Genus of plants, shrubs and small trees native to tropical and temperate regions and cultivated worlwide. Their large white, pink, yellow, blue or red bell-shaped flowers have darker or variegated centres. Family Malvaceae.
