Herodians

Herodians , Jewish political party of the early 1st cent. AD, related to the dynasty of Herod . Some have supposed that they were largely Sadducees . In the New Testament the Herodians are referred to, with the Pharisees, as being in opposition to Jesus.

Herodians. A party mentioned in the Gospels as hostile to Christ. They were presumably partisans of the Herod family.

Herodians In Mark 12: 13 and Matt. 22: 16 some Herodians join with Pharisees in putting to Jesus a difficult question about the payment of tribute money. The Herodians are presumably supporters of Herod Antipas but their common front with the Pharisees is surprising in that Herod the Great regarded Pharisees as his principal opponents and there is no reason to suppose that his son was any less hostile.
