Henry Major Tomlinson
Henry Major Tomlinson 1873–1958, English novelist. A dock worker, then a journalist and war correspondent, he was (1917–23) literary editor of the Nation and Athenaeum. Probably his best-known novel is the sea story Gallions Reach (1927). Others include Pipe All Hands (1937) and Morning Light (1946). All Our Yesterdays (1930) is a semifictional history of World War I. Among his travelogues are The Sea and the Jungle (1912), South to Cadiz (1934), and Below London Bridge (1935).

Tomlinson, H. M.
Tomlinson, H. M., ( Henry Major Tomlinson) (1873–1958), novelist and journalist, the son of a foreman at the West India Dock; his early love of ships and the sea is reflected in his life and works, e.g. The Sea and the Jungle (1912, an account of a voyage to Brazil and up the Amazon), London River (1921, essays and reflections), and his first novel, Gallions Reach (1927).
