Chettle, Henry
Chettle, Henry (c.1560–1607), prolific Elizabethan playwright, credited by Henslowe in his diary with a long list of plays, mostly written in collaboration and now lost. Of those that survive, the only one Chettle appears to have produced unaided was Hoffman, known also as Revenge for a Father (c.1602), which follows the pattern of the revenge tragedy set by Kyd. Chettle was also a printer, in which capacity he published the pamphlets of Nashe as well as Greene's A Groatsworth of Wit (1592), which contains the famous attack on Shakespeare.

Chettle, Henry
Chettle, Henry (c.1560–?1607), is reputedly the author of about 13 plays and the joint author of considerably more (including The Blind Beggar of Bednal-Green with J. Day). The only extant play attributed to him alone is The Tragedy of Hoffman (c.1603). He edited and was possibly the author of Greenes Groats-Worth of Witte (1592), which, like his own satirical pamphlet Kind Harts Dreame (?1592), is noteworthy for its allusion to Shakespeare. He also published Englandes Mourning Garment (1603), an elegy on Queen Elizabeth.
