Harrison ♂ Transferred use of the surname, which originated as a patronymic meaning ‘son of Harry’. Use as a given name may have been influenced by the U.S. presidents William Henry Harrison (1773–1841) and his grandson Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901). A more recent influence is the actor Harrison Ford (b. 1942).
