Gupta dynasty

Gupta dynasty. An Indian dynasty that governed northern and central India from 350 ce to 650 ce, during which period all aspects of Indian artistic, architectural, and religious life flourished. Many great Mahāyāna masters lived and wrote at this time while various Buddhist establishments such as Nālandā attracted many pilgrim-monks from China and elsewhere.

Gupta dynasty

Gupta dynasty (c.ad 320–c.550) Ruling house whose kingdom covered most of n India. Founded by Chandragupta I, the Gupta dynasty embraced Buddhism and is seen as a golden age. It reached its greatest extent at the end of the 4th century, but declined at the end of the 5th century under concerted attack from the Huns.

Gupta dynasty. Established in N. India in 3rd cent. CE, and later covering a much larger area. It flourished c.350–510 CE. Under this dynasty, great heights of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist religion and culture were achieved.
