Glenelg
Glenelg, Australia, UK, USA 1. Australia (Victoria): a river, originally called Nangeela, surveyed in 1836 and named after Charles Grant (1778–1866), Lord Glenelg, British secretary of state for the colonies (1835–9), and a suburb of Adelaide in South Australia.2. UK (Scotland): Charles Grant took his title from Glenelg in Scotland. The Gaelic name is Gleann Eilge from gleann ‘valley’; the meaning of Eilge is not known.
