Hann, Georg

Hann, Georg (b Vienna, 1897; d Munich, 1950). Austrian bass-baritone. Served in Austrian Army in First World War. Bavarian State Opera, Munich, 1927–50 (created La Roche in Capriccio, 1942). Salzburg Fest. début 1931, singing there until 1949. Sang at Paris, Berlin, La Scala, CG (with Vienna co. 1947). Sang both buffo and dramatic roles, incl. Falstaff, Leporello, Ochs, Rigoletto, Sarastro, and Amfortas.
