Geographos
Geographos Asteroid 1620, a member of the Apollo group, discovered by R. L. B.Minkowski and the American astronomer Albert George Wilson (1918– ) in 1951 but not seen again until 1969. It is of S class. Radar observations show that Geographos is one of the most highly elongated objects in the Solar System, 5.1 × 1.8 km, probably a splinter from a larger body. Its orbit has a semimajor axis of 1.245 AU, period 1.39 years, perihelion 0.83 AU, aphelion 1.66 AU, and inclination 13°.3.

Geographos A solar system asteroid (No. 1620), diameter 2 km; approximate mass 4 × 1012 kg; rotational period 5.222 hours; orbital period 1.39 years. It was to have been visited by the Clementine spacecraft, but a computer malfunction ended the mission.
