General Baptists
General Baptists. As contrasted with the Particular Baptists, those Baptists whose theology was Arminian and whose polity allied with that of the Presbyterians. To this group belonged the earliest English Baptists, led by T. Helwys. After many General Baptist Churches had moved towards Unitarianism, a New Connection was formed in 1770. This group united with the Particular Baptists in 1891.
