Gatherer
Gatherer, functionary in the Elizabethan playhouse whose task it was to collect the spectators' entrance fees from that part of the theatre, usually the upper gallery and the boxes, allotted to the housekeepers, or owners of the actual theatre building, as distinct from the sharers in the assets of the company.
