Garth

Garth

Garth ♂ Transferred use of a surname, but often taken to be a contracted form of Gareth. As a surname it originated in the north of England, as a local name for someone who lived near an enclosure of some sort (Old Norse garðr). In modern times its popularity has been influenced by the virile superhero of this name, the main character in a long-running strip cartoon in the Daily Mirror newspaper.
