Frederikshavn, Denmark Fladstrand Originally called ‘The Beach (in the Parish of) Flade’ from strand and Flade ‘flat’. It was renamed ‘Frederick's Port’ in 1818 after Frederick VI (1768–1839), King of Denmark (1808–39) and of Norway (1808–14).

Frederikshavn , city (1992 pop. 24,930), Nordjylland co., N Denmark, a port on the Kattegat; chartered 1818. It is a commercial and industrial center, with ferry services, shipyards, engineering works, and a food processing industry.
