Forfar , town (1991 pop. 12,652), Angus, E Scotland. Textiles, processed foods, iron goods, and farm tools are produced. Royalist in the civil wars, Forfar had its charter destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in 1651. It was reissued in 1665 by Charles II, who gave the town a tower that still stands.
