Fintan

Fintan, Finntan, Fintaan, Fionntan, Finntain (gen.) [proto-Celtic vindo-senos, white ancient (?); vindo-tenos, white fire (?)]. Name borne by numerous figures in early Ireland, secular and ecclesiastical, including seventy-four saints and pseudo-saints and dozens of names cited in genealogies and pedigrees. The best-known Fintan, usually cited without patronymic, is Fintan mac Bóchra.
