Fiachra

Fiachra

Fiachra, Fiachrae, Feacra. Name borne by dozens of figures in early Ireland, including mythological and legendary kings and warriors as well as several historical kings and progenitors of important families. The best-known saint of this name is usually cited in a French spelling, St Fiacre. It is not clear which personage is indicated by the anglicized spelling, Feacra, favoured by W. B. Yeats and others. See also FIACHNA and FIACHU, with which the name is often confused.
