Fenians
Fenians, originally a semi-mythical, semi-historical military body said to have been raised for the defence of Ireland against Norse raids. Finn, in his day, was its chief. The Fenians of modern times were an association formed among the Irish in the United States and in Ireland in the middle of the 19th cent. for promoting the overthrow of the English government in Ireland.
