Euphronios , c.520-470 BC, Greek potter and painter. He spent his early career as a painter, working mainly in the red-figure style. In his later years, he was known primarily as a potter. The vessels attributed to him as a painter include a vase depicting the struggle of Heracles with Antaeus (c.510-500 BC) and a kylix depicting a horseman within it and Heracles' battle with the mythical Gorgon outside it.

Euphronios. Greek vase painter and potter, active in Athens c.520–c.500 bc, one of the outstanding early exponents of the red-figure style. He signed work as both a painter and a potter. His best-known work, which well exemplifies his majestic style, is probably the krater (wine bowl) in the Louvre, Paris, showing Herakles wrestling with Antaios. His rival was Euthymides.
