Emmerich Joseph Dalberg

Emmerich Joseph Dalberg (Emeric Joseph, duc de Dalberg) , 1773-1833, French diplomat of German origin; nephew of Karl Theodor von Dalberg. The foreign minister of Baden, he entered (1810) the service of French Emperor Napoleon I, who made him a duke and a councillor of state. A follower of Charles Maurice de Talleyrand , he served (1814) in the provisional government formed after the fall of Paris and supported the recall of the Bourbons .
