Draper

Draper (1811–82)Englishscientist, father of H.Draper; he moved to the USA in 1832. Draper was a pioneer photographer. In the winter of 1839/40 he obtained the first daguerreotype (early form of photograph) of the Moon, in which the maria were distinctly visible. In 1843 he took what is believed to be the first photograph of the Sun's infrared spectrum, recording three Fraunhofer lines, and he photographed the Sun's ultraviolet spectrum at about the same time.
