Jordan, Dorothy

Jordan, Dorothy, née Phillips (1761–1816), actress, appeared from 1782 to 1815 in many leading roles, and was much praised by Hazlitt, Lamb, Leigh Hunt, etc. She was for long mistress of the duke of Clarence (William IV), and bore him ten children.
