Dolores, USA Rio de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores A river rising in Colorado meaning simply ‘grief’ or ‘sorrow’ from the Spanish dolor. The original name meant ‘River of Our Lady of Sorrows’, a reference to the Virgin Mary.
