Dogger Bank
Dogger Bank, an extensive shoal in the North Sea about 96 kilometres (60 mls.) off the coast of Northumberland in north-east England. It has a minimum depth over it of about 11 metres (36 ft), but large portions of it lie at depths varying from 18 to 36 metres (60–120 ft). The origin of its name is obscure, though the word dogger in Dutch originally meant a two-masted fishing vessel.
