Dhofar
Dhofar (Ẓufār), Oman Zafar A governorate with a name connected with being ‘victorious’ or ‘successful’ from dhafara. The name of Zafar, once a city and now a ruined site called al‐Balīd ‘The Town’ a few miles east of Salālah, was Anglicized to Dhofar.
