Desdemona
Desdemona ♀ Name occasionally chosen by parents in search of an unusual name, who are no doubt attracted by the sweet nature and innocence of Shakespeare's character and not deterred by her tragic fate. She was murdered by her husband, Othello, in an ill-founded jealous rage, and her name is in fact particularly appropriate to her destiny, as it probably represents a Latinized form of Greek dysdaimōn ‘ill-starred’.
