Neal, Daniel
Neal, Daniel (1678–1743), English Nonconformist clergyman and historian, author of a History of New England …to …1700 (2 vols., 1720), which, though it drew strongly on Cotton Mather's work, was hostile to his family and their part in the witchcraft trials. Neal's History of the Puritans (4 vols., 1732–38) was also indebted to Mather for its information on the New England Puritans down to 1689.
